A Closer Look
Let me just start by saying that until now my mouse of choice was the Logitech MX700. I thought it was the best mouse I had ever used, I even bought one for my father for Christmas last year after I reviewed it. The MX700 was the best mouse I had ever used and until I put my hands on the MX1000 I didn't realize how much it was lacking. Logitech took the design of the MX700 and made all the right enhancements.

Here are a few shots of the MX1000 from a couple of different angles.

The Logitech MX1000 package included the installation software, manual and some Logitech propaganda to which I have no complaints - it just seemed to make me want to shop.

The MX1000 has been redesigned and is in fact much more comfortable than the MX700. Notice the slight changes to the contour of the shell of the mouse. The Logitech MX1000 seems to be more fit for right handers with the way it slopes on the side.

The base of the MX1000 has been revamped as well. The back part of it seems to be a bit lacking as they replaced the full base of the MX700 with a thin plastic backing to hold the MX1000 in place while charging. We had no issues with this part of the base unit but it was noticeable. On the front of the base is a Reset button.

The mouse comfortably charges while sitting in the base unit.

The base only has two connections, a power connection and the USB connection (also includes USB to PS2 adaptor).

The three LED lights on the top of the Logitech MX1000 show the charged level of the Lithium-ion battery in the MX1000. I've heard that the Lithium-ion can last for weeks without needed to be recharged. Of course with the way that I am, whenever it's not in use the MX1000 is in the base and charging.

Included with our review sample of the Logitech MX1000 mouse were the following surface samples. Metal, plastic and paper. Logitech included these samples just to prove how adaptable the MX1000's Laser really is. We used it on different types of surfaces and really could not find anything that would affect it's performance.
